As we became more confined to our homes in 2020, our living needs altered causing us to re-evaluate how we use spaces and interact with each other. So, what are the current design trends that clients are now requesting in their new homes and renovations?

1) Multi-purpose spaces – study nooks, inbuilt cabinetry, improved and more functional kitchen and laundry designs.

Internal spaces now need to accommodate the living, learning, and working at home demands of parents, children and any adult children that moved back in with their parents. Interior spaces require a degree of flexibility to allow for study, working and incorporate clever storage solutions. Kitchens need to be more functional as we are spending more time cooking and entertaining at home.

2) Shift from urban living to wanting more outdoor space. Clients are seeking to connect indoor rooms to the outdoors.

3) Following recent years of bush fires and floods, clients require homes built with quality and sustainable materials, designed to endure the Australian climate conditions as well as respecting the surrounding vegetation.

4) We are spending more time entertaining at home and holidaying overseas could be on the backburner for a few years. Why not create a resort feel in your own backyard.

Renovating your pool area can be a quick way to modernise your backyard. Update tiles to Travertine, reline your pool if needed, replace old pool fencing with frameless glass and create a lush tropical oasis with landscaping.

5) Add or extend decking and patio areas to cater for outdoor entertaining, open up your kitchen to connect, or just create inviting spaces with some greenery.
